Thank you for choosing Sterling Osteopathic and Wellness Care! This website is designed to answer many of the questions that you may have.
You will experience a different level of care at Sterling Osteopathic & Wellness care. As practitioners of Functional Medicine, we consider the patient as a whole, not just a set of symptoms. Our focus is on identifying and treating the underlying factors which cause pain, illness and chronic disease.
We will consider multiple factors including:
Environmental Influences, diet, physical activity, toxic exposures as well as trauma
Biological & Genetic Influences, regulation of hormones, digestion and absorption of nutrients, environmental and food allergies, immune system function and inflammatory responses
Mind-Body Connection: Psychological, spiritual and social factors which influence your health and energy. Based on the information provided on the Intake Questionnaire, consultation, and test results, we will create a personalized treatment plan that will put you in control, and will teach you the skills needed to prevent disease and maintain optimal health. Your treatment plan will be tailored with ongoing modifications to meet your changing needs on an individualized basis.
If you are interested in becoming a patient, please call our office directly at 703-421-7000. Once a staff member schedules your new patient visit, you will then be requested to complete your New Patient Paperwork (our comprehensive medical history) located on our website prior to your first appointment.
We also ask that you bring results of any previous medical testing that has been done, a complete list of medications including supplements that you are taking, and any other medical information you think might be helpful in getting to know your health history.
Frequently asked questions:
1. Do you accept insurance?
Answer: Dr. Fletcher & Dr. Fox are considered out-of-network providers. SOWC services that are out-of-network are not filed directly with insurance companies for office visits. We will be happy to provide you with the necessary forms you need to file with your insurance company for reimbursement. Because payment is due at the time of service, your insurance company will reimburse you directly. We do utilize insurance for most lab tests offered. For more information, please see our Insurance and Payment page.
2. What can I expect during my first visit?
Answer: Your first visit to Sterling Osteopathic and Wellness will involve a consultation with your physician of choice. During this visit, we will start to get to know you by reviewing your comprehensive medical history assessment. We will then work with you in formulating the next steps needed in preparing for your journey to health. This may involve further collection of information through obtaining additional medical records, laboratory testing, and expanding on information already gathered.
3. Does SOWC perform diagnostic testing during my initial new patient visit?
Answer: Because every patient is unique, SOWC physicians will choose which type of testing you need based on the results of your initial assessment for more information please see our LivingMatrix page here. Sometimes testing can be done during this new patient appointment. If fasting blood work is needed, and you are traveling from out-of-town, please make the staff aware, so we can accommodate your initial new patient visit to include fasting blood work. Our staff will be happy to provide you with these instructions. Please make sure you drink plenty of water prior to your fasting blood draw.
