A Whole-Person Approach to Healing: Mind body and spirit
Sterling Osteopathic & Wellness Care does not participate in insurance plans, including Medicare or Medicaid. We will provide a detailed bill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company. If you have determined that your insurance plan will cover some or all treatments that you receive at SOWC, we will be happy to provide you with the documentation you need to submit a claim for reimbursement.
About Health Insurance
Dr. Zapp, Dr. Seidel, and Nurse Practitioners Cynthia Yew and Jessica Scalzo do participate with major insurance. At this time, however, we are not taking new patients with Medicare or Medicaid. There are certain functional medicine services that are out-of-network. For more information, Please see fee service page.
Which insurance plans do we accept?
Dr. Fletcher & Dr. Fox work with all health insurance carriers as a non-participating provider (out-of-network). We will gladly provide you with all necessary paperwork, including your diagnosis codes, treatment codes, and all pertinent provider information, to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
How does reimbursement work?
You will pay for your visit or treatment at the time of service. Our staff will prepare the necessary forms, including pertinent documentation and billing codes, to submit to your health insurance provider for reimbursement. The insurance company will send a reimbursement check directly to your home.
Why do Dr. Fletcher & Dr. Fox choose to not participate in any insurance plans?
1. Because insurance companies pay according to particular procedure codes, insurance plans are generally designed to cover “sick care,” as opposed to the type of wellness care that functional medicine offers. Unfortunately, at this time, many insurance plans are not designed to recognize our type of patient care.
2. SOWC providers believe in spending quality time with all patients to assure that a very high level of patient care is delivered. SOWC providers would prefer to decide what is best for each patient, and the time needed, as opposed to agreeing to limited time constraints.
3. Choosing to be an out-of-network provider allows SOWC providers to perform multiple procedures or treatments during one office visit. SOWC providers are at liberty to decide which treatment or procedures are best for each patient during each office visit.
4. Functional medicine is on the cutting edge of many different types of treatments and testing. Some of our newer procedures and treatments may not be recognized as “standard” care according to certain insurance plans. We are hoping that most insurance plans will soon recognize functional medicine as a type of standard care in medicine.
How long does reimbursement take?
Claims are given priority when they are filed by the policy holder. This way, you can be reimbursed more quickly.
The amount of time varies from one insurance company to another, but most patients say they receive reimbursement within 3-6 weeks. You should check with your insurance provider for specific details about your reimbursement.
